Graph the given function using transformations.

 

The transformations are:
 

a.)    Flip (or reflection) about the y axis.
b.)    Stretch horizontally by a factor of 4.
c.)    Stretch vertically be a factor of 5.
d.)    Shift right by 1.
e.)    Shift down by 2.

Watch this animation until you can see each transformation as it is listed.

Note: the horizontal transformation can be mistaken for a vertical compression by 2.  Make sure that you can see the horizontal transformation, otherwise you miss part of the point.  However, it is interesting to notice that some horizontal and vertical stretches can change form with a little algebra.  How???
