Most of you have been around long enough to hear rumors that one of the coolest parts of linear algebra is that you get to learn and work proofs!  We have a text that takes a thorough and rigorous approach to proofs.  I have a personal goal to do a proof or two in every section.  But some of you want more!  To that end, I am putting together an honors seminar/Math 291 class specifically focused on proofs.

Here are the highlights of the seminar:

-          At most 10 students

-          Can be taken for honors (if you have at least a 3.5 in your last two math classes) or for credit as Math 291.  First dibs goes to those who register (item 6454)

-          Meets Fridays at noon.

-          The focus is on logic and proofs.

-          The seminar isn’t about linear algebra and isn’t a study session.

-          The seminar will be challenging and way more work than usual for an “H” or single credit.  You should only take it if you want to learn!

-          In addition to making proofs more accessible, it is especially good for students intending to major (or minor) in mathematics

-          Texts: Logicomix and Foundations of Abstract Mathematics
