Welcome Letter (September 2009)

Dear Student –

Welcome!  In this package you will find the materials you need to get started with your online Math 111: College Algebra course.  In addition, you will need to have a scientific or graphing calculator to use at home and on exams, a working computer with internet access, and a working e-mail address that you check regularly.

Included in this packet, you should have the following:

1. This cover letter.
2. A college algebra textbook shrink-wrapped with a CD ROM.

3. Four supplemental packets
   1. Section 1.6: Applications of Functions in Business and Economics
   2. Section 2.3: Business Applications of Quadratic Equations
   3. Sections 4.1 and 4.2: Linear Inequalities in Two Variables and Linear Programming: Graphical Methods.
   4. Math of Finance

Your first assignment is to send me an e-mail (by September 24^th) to dwilson@highline.edu.  In this e-mail, please tell me about yourself, including your mathematical background and current major or career plans.  Also include your name, current mailing address and phone number so that I can keep my records up to date.
