Biography |

|
Originally, I am from a small town
(population: 226) in western
Pennsylvania. I graduated from
DuBois Area High School in 1985.
That fall, I moved to
Indiana, PA where I began college at
Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP).
Having always been interested in
psychology, I, amazingly enough, majored
in psychology. With the influence of
IUP's psychology department, I found
my area of interest: social psychology.
Four years later with my BA firmly in
hand, I packed up my car and moved to
Lawrence, Kansas to begin my
graduate work in social psychology at
the
University of Kansas (KU).
After earning my MA (my thesis
dealt with stereotyping), I
decided that what I really needed
was some time away from my studies While at KU, I learned I loved teaching. Over the following 2 years, I taught part-time at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, KS, Washburn University in Topeka, KS, and at the satellite facility of Kansas City Kansas Community College in Leavenworth, KS. When I felt it was time to do this full-time, I began my search. New Mexico State University-Alamogordo advertised their position; I applied and was offered the position. In August, 1994 I moved to southern New Mexico. My partner and I met in 1999. In 2001, she was offered a job in Seattle that we just couldn't turn down. Luckily, Highline Community College was seeking a psychology instructor, and here I've been since July, 2001. See my curriculum vitae (aka resume) for the full story. |
